Of course as I finish writing about the beauty of the more subtle nights with the aurora yesterday, an unexpected solar storm seemed to buffet Earth's magnetic field ahead of an anticipated high speed solar wind stream. It was only somewhere around 19:00 that the aurora was already out overhead in the city, so as soon as some guests arrived home from Bullock's Bistro, we were off into the countryside where things began again gently, but escalated beautifully into, as I just mentioned, the aurora turning the snow green.
