Yellowknife and it's closest countryside was one big blanket of fog. By blanket of fog, I mean, let's drive out at a crawl because you can't see much further than 30 metres ahead. Of course, along the way there were pockets where maybe you could see 100 metres ahead - which was momentarily exciting for the four or five seconds it lasted, but 100 metres isn't 80 kilometres to where the aurora is. So for an hour, well, well over an hour, I just had to trust an intuitive feeling I had felt while driving in the opposite direction right at the beginning of the night. And, always listen to your intuition...
