When I finally caught one bar of internet at almost 1am after a little more cloud pushed us further west, I think I might have over-enthusiastically tapped with my fingers, my car dashboard at the sight of a dramatically dipping south interplanetary magnetic field ((IMF) the magnetic field of the solar wind).
I almost couldn't contain myself.
You know like when your cat forces his/herself into your face or your legs or your feet because they just can't handle themselves, they're so excited? It was that kind of feeling.
And that point, it was just a matter of time - more time than I thought, but just a matter of time. And after it all, pulling back into the driveway at 4:15 in the morning, it was worth all the patience that the northern lights will teach you.
