It was 19:30 and I was antsy. I just had that feeling of needing to get out there a little earlier. Two hours earlier seemed a little excessive, so we ultimately settled for minutes instead of hours, and I finished my dinner.
But sure enough, pulled over in front of a bed & breakfast to grab a guest, we were leaning forward looking up out the front windscreen, through, of course, another street lamp at a beautiful display of the aurora, dead centre, in the city of Yellowknife.
Hours of cloud passed, clearish skies without a trace of green also passed, but finally with a few hints of a substorm brewing, we did finish our evening - morning - definitely not evening - off with a substorm full of green, pink and a few magical, perhaps subtle, touches of orange. (keep eating your carrots, aurora chasers)
